Ping App
The ping mobile app is developed to be in touch with the people who we care and want to know if they are well or not. This app is ensures that the wellness is conveyed with minimal communication but ensures it happens in time and happens everyday. If the person whom you are observing doesn't report then you can use the social media or telephonic media to check if everything is okay or not.
The zero invasive nature of the app makes it right fit for daily reporting without annoying you. The loved one whom you want to observe will fill-in the emergency details in the user profile settings page. These details will be shared with the Acknowledger, by default, and with the followers, if the pinger choose to.
User Roles:
There are three types of user roles, a. Pinger, b. Acknowledger, c. Follower. You can be a Pinger, an Acknowledger and a Follower at a same time based on the subscriptions purchased.
Here is brief about each role significance
a. Pinger: Any user can become a pinger. The pinger is a person whom the loved wants to observe/track. The pinger will be associated with one Acknowledger and zero or more followers. You need to opt for pinger subscription to become pinger or your acknowledger can purchase the pinger subscription on your behalf.
b. Acknowledger: The primary follower of a pinger is called Acknowledger. There can be only one Acknowledger for a pinger. You can become Acknowledger of one or more pingers. The emergency details of the pinger will be shared with the Acknowledger, by default.
c. Follower: You can be a follower for one or more pingers. The follower can see the pinger status. If the pinger choose to share his/her emergency details with a follower then only the details will be visible to that follower else not.
Security Features
- In the application, every user gets identified by the mobile number.
- The user data stored on the server is a. mobile number, b. date of birth, email-id, country and zip code.
- The emergency details, user name are not stored on the server and will be stored on individual's mobile app.
- The history of the ping time is maintained for a day, not more than that.
- The server uses JWT (json-web-token) authentication mechanism to authenticate the api calls.
How it works:
The concept is pretty simple and straightforward.
- Pinger is a person whom the Acknowledger and followers wants to observe/track the status.
- The pinger will define a specific ping time of a day then he/she will access the app.
- Every mid-night, the pinger status will get reset to Waiting.
- The moment pinger opens the app, the status will get set as Active.
- If the pinger doesn't access the app still the ping time then notifications will sent to the pinger.
- If still pinger doesn't access the app, then status will get set as Not Responding.
- Every user will fill in the emergency details.
- By default, the ping time will be set as 9.00AM. User can change the ping time.
- The user can opt for one or more subscriptions, based on the subscription types, followers/acknowledger will be able to view the ping status of the pingers.

Subscriptions
1. Pinger subscription: the pinger can opt for either a quarterly subscription (90 days) or an annual subscription plan. The pinger subscription can be purchased by the pinger or by acknowledger (on the behalf of the pinger). The pinger subscription cost includes the acknowledger subscription. If the subscription gets expired then the pinger will not appear in the pinger list.
2. Follower subscription: the follower subscription is an annual subscription. It can be purchased by the follower or the pinger (on the behalf of the follower). If the subscription gets expired then the pinger will get removed from the favorite's list and user will not be able view the pinger status.
- The user will be notified when the subscription is about to expire or for the expired ones.
- The subscriptions are non transferrable (subscription purchased to track one person cannot be used/transferred to track another person).
Summary
Ping app is best suited for people who want to check the ping status of their loved ones without any communication chatter/noise. The acknowledger/follower can use the emergency details shared by the pinger to connect with people if the pinger doesn't respond or not reachable. The app is very useful to people who want to know the wellness of the loved ones who are not staying with them.
